Buttonwillow 2009 Drivers Education
Not a timed competition event
Hi there, fellow members. This May is the time for our annual driver education
event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
The date is Friday, May 22nd. Clothing requirements are long sleeved cotton
shirt and long pants, closed shoes and a
SA95 or later Snell approved helmet. If you do not own a helmet, you can rent
one from the track for $10/day. Although
PCA members from other regions and other local clubs are allowed entry, we
have reserved the first 80 entries from
CCCR if postmarked or dated by April 27, 2009. We are doing this to encourage
CCCR members to enter. After that
date, entries are first come, first served. Total entries are limited to 100
drivers. Entry and Safety Tech Inspection forms
are included in this months Coastalaire. Each entrant should receive
more than an hour of track time so sign up early to
guarantee your entry.
What is Drivers Education and why is it useful?
Driver Education is intended to afford participants the opportunity to develop
car control skills in an organized manner
and in a controlled and safe environment. The plan is for participants to
accomplish this while they have a good time and
learn from their experiences. The safety of participants and their cars is
the number one concern. The goal is for each
participant to become a more skilled and safe driver and to provide each with
the opportunity to learn about their Porsche
and the driving experience made possible by Porsche cars.

Where: Buttonwillow Raceway Park, www.buttonwillowraceway.com, clockwise direction,
Layout #25.

Tech: A pre-tech will be held at SGS (next to Smith Volvo in SLO) for all

providing more track time for entrants. The pre-tech will also allow time
for resolution for entrants
that have a tech issue. SGSs address is 1185 Monterey St., SLO. Current
annual logbook from
PCA, POC, NASA, SCCA or other racing organization accepted. Tech at the track
will be very limited.
