Are you a member/owner of a Porsche with a plastic rear
window?
Worried about caring for it, to prevent having to replace it
(I saw one 2 years old that cracked.)
Like the manual says "do not raise or lower the top when the temperature
is below (whatever that number was)
but it's colder making the plastic work harden and possibly crack.
(I saw a two year old window that did that for exactly that reason.)
The other tips I have are:
1 - Use a white terry cloth towel or a Porsche window Pillow inserted
into the fold of the window as it's being lowered.
This lets the plastic window wrap around the larger towel or pillow
instead of folding flat,
which work hardens the plastic causing it to crack.
2 - Ever wonder what it really good (and fairly cheap) to use
on the window?
Try lemon pledge to clean it before lowering the top. Clean it with
pledge and a white towel or microfiber towel.
I learned the lemon Pledge trick from Vetter Fairings when I bought
my Honda Goldwing.
The Pledge cleans the window, gets it very clear, which keeps the
window from scratching itself while it raises or lowers.
3 - Lastly, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use anything with ammonia on the window
for any reason.
This is because ammonia yellows the plastic.
Take care of it, and enjoy the clear view and lasting clarity.
