CCCRPCA ANNUAL WINE COUNTRY TOUR WITH LUNCH AT THE HISTORIC DERBY WINE ESTATE

Please join us for the pre-Harvest sights in Paso Robles Wine Country and Luncheon at Historic Derby Wine Estates on September 21st 2019.

For our south county members, we will be meeting at Alfano Motors at 8:30am on September 21st to sign insurance releases and go over general instructions. At 9am, our south county members will make their way north up the 101 to join our north county members at the Galaxy theater parking lot (highway 41 and el Camino real in Atascadero) prior to leaving for a scenic drive through the eastern and western wine regions of Paso Robles.

Our north county members will meet at 9 in the Galaxy theater parking lot at the corner of highway 41 and El Camino Real to sign releases and go over general instructions for the drive.

At 9:45, the north and south county groups will leave the Galaxy parking lot and head east on Highway 41, out towards Creston. From the Creston Junction we will head back into the Pomar district of Paso’s eastern wine growing region. We will then work our way back into Templeton and towards the junction of Highway 46 and Vineyard road; before heading into the Templeton Gap and then Adelaida growing regions. Finally, we will work our way back into downtown Paso Robles, to Derby Wine Estates winery and tasting room.

Derby is one of the most unique wineries in the central coast. With over 400 acres of vines planted in three district micro climates, they have the unique luxury of growing 26 French and Spanish grape varietals that they craft into the estate wines. At the winery we will learn more about their award winning wines, as well as the Derby’s renovation of their beautiful 1920’s art deco facility that was actually the original home of California’s Almond Growers Association back in the 1920s, when Paso was the almond capital of the state, not the wine capital.

We will then have a BBQ tri tip or chicken lunch provided by Derby Smokehouse on their lovely patio. Wine will be available for purchase by the glass or by the bottle. We will also have water available for those that would rather not have wine.

Please RSVP to Tim Calabretta (tntcal1@charter.net) by September 10th, with a copy to Ken Finney (klf4slo9ers@charter.net). To finalize your RSVP, please be sure to send a check for $25 per person attending, as soon as possible, payable to CCCRPCA to Ken Finney at: Ken Finney, 1038 Twin Creek Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
